Undermount sink – The installation of a mounting sink on a granite slab requires precision, accuracy and suitable assembly techniques. This is to prevent it from separating from the bottom of the countertop and falling into the cabinet below. In addition to the fasteners that come with a commercially available undercounter washbasin kit. The epoxy sealant is needed to firmly attach the sink to the granite. When properly installed, an undercounter sink will be attached to the underside of the deck allowing the countertop surface to act as a sink lip and streamline the countertop surface. To install this right sink, assign an assistant to hold the sink while you attach the clips to it.
Measure the width of the hole and use a hand-basin to cut a length of 2 “by 4” of slightly longer wood. Wipe the underside of the granite surface with a dry cloth to remove any accumulated dirt. Apply an even layer of silicone sealant to the top or edge of the undermount sink. Take it under the sink and use the caulked lip to lift it up in the center of the granite top. Slide the sink against the bottom of the countertop.
Place the 2 x 4 inch wood just above the sink opening over the sink cutout at the top of the countertop. Partially tighten the clamp to hold the sink assembly in place. Prepare the two-part epoxy according to the directions on the label. Tighten the screws that secure the clamps and allow the epoxy and putty to cure for the time specified in the instructions on the label.
